ALTOONA, Pa. -- Another game, another close loss for the Robert Morris Colonials who were taken down by Oakland 71-68 Friday night at the UPMC Events Center.
The loss moves Robert Morris to 6-19 on the season, 4-12 in the Horizon League. Of those 19 losses, 11 of them have come by 10 points or less and even further, 9 have come by 8 points or less.
The Colonials are on the cusp of breaking through for success in the Horizon, they just haven't been able to finish most games.
"The effort that our guys are giving and the way they are continuing to battle, I respect that greatly," Robert Morris head coach Andrew Toole said. "It's a good reflection of who they are and what they're about. We just came up short a few possessions. Again."
Junior forward Brandon Stone paced the Colonials with a career-high 17 points while senior forward Kahliel Spear chipped in 14 points of his own.
"The effort was where it needed to be to win the game, but the details weren't," Toole said.
